Description

A homemade take on the viral Trader Joe’s focaccia sandwich with sliced turkey, creamy burrata, basil pesto, tomato bruschetta, arugula, and balsamic glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf Trader Joe’s Roasted Tomato & Parmesan Focaccia
  • 6 oz thinly sliced deli turkey
  • 4 oz burrata cheese, drained
  • 2 tablespoons basil pesto
  • ¼ cup tomato bruschetta spread, drained
  • 1 cup arugula, washed and dried
  • ½ teaspoon Italian bomba hot pepper sauce
  • 2 teaspoons balsamic glaze
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Warm the focaccia. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Slice the focaccia horizontally and place both halves on a baking sheet, cut sides up. Warm for 5–7 minutes, until lightly crisp. Let cool slightly.

  2. Prepare the fillings. Drain the tomato bruschetta and burrata. Gently tear the burrata into smaller pieces and make sure the arugula is dry.

  3. Spread the sauces. Spread the basil pesto over the bottom half of the focaccia and the bomba sauce thinly over the top half.

  4. Add the cheese and turkey. Spread the drained burrata evenly over the pesto, then arrange the turkey slices on top, folding them loosely.

  5. Add the toppings. Spoon the drained bruschetta over the turkey. Add the arugula, drizzle with balsamic glaze, and finish with black pepper, if desired.

  6. Close and serve. Place the top half of the focaccia over the fillings. Press gently and cut into four pieces with a serrated knife. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Focaccia: If Trader Joe’s Roasted Tomato & Parmesan Focaccia isn’t available, use a similar sturdy focaccia.
  • Burrata: Drain thoroughly before assembling. Fresh mozzarella can be substituted for a firmer filling.
  • Spice level: Start with ½ teaspoon of bomba sauce for the whole sandwich, or omit it for a milder version.
  • Make ahead: Keep the ingredients refrigerated separately and assemble just before serving for the best texture.
  • Storage: Refrigerate leftovers promptly in an airtight container. The focaccia will soften once assembled.
